Historic Colyton town - Colyton’s an extremely historic small town, having Britain’s only remaining oak bark tannery. It also has an ancient body called the Feoffees, who raised monies to buy back church property that had been seized by Henry VIII.
Colyton also has a renowned wheelwright/carriage maker which is by appointment to Her Majesty the Queen.
The buildings in Colyton have delightful architectural features and it makes a particularly enjoyable excursion strolling around the town. St Andrews church is particularly beautiful.
Seaton Tramway - The Tramway has great views all the way along the route and up the river Axe.
For a great day out, take the tram from Seaton to Colyton, then leave the tram station and head for the bridge over the river coly (Liddon’s Dairy is just before the bridge). Then, you can turn left over the bridge and follow the path down the river to Colyford where you can catch the tram back to Seaton.
